ERG 012 - ATM belts semi-elastic (VOC free)

Overview Engineering Reports Graf Technical support

Initial situation

A European manufacturer of ticket and access systems faced a recurring problem: The belts in its automatic teller machines were the weak point of the system. Especially in locations with high public traffic, failures occurred regularly – due to material fatigue, irregular running, or bad splices.

Task

The search for a permanently reliable, easy-to-fit conveying element suitable for high cycle rates – without constant readjustment or the risk of failure.

Solution

For a suitable solution the customer turned to Dipl. Ing. Werner Graf AG. Together they tested a prototype system with semi-elastic, endless HEVALOID® belts. The advantages quickly became apparent:

  • Seamless belt construction = No failure at splices or seams
  • Maintenance-free operation = No re-tensioning required
  • Even the smallest deflections are possible = Ideal for compact vending machines, ticketing and card reader machines
  • Antistatic & abrasion-resistant = Less contamination, consistent performance

In a 12-month field trial, over 500 ticketing machines were equipped with HEVALOID® SE belts. The result: 30% higher availability – with 0% belt failures. The project management described this as "one of the rare cases where an invisible component has a visible effect." Since then, HEVALOID® SE has been installed as standard in all new vending machine generations of the customer.

HEVALOID® ATM belts are not a cost factor – they are a competitive advantage.
